It's a Lush Life: Snow Fairy Lip Tint!

Hi guys! Hope you're all having good weeks!

I have been trying out this particular Lush product for a while now and thought I'd probably better get round to doing a review of it for you all!

As you all know, I love Lush, and a couple of weeks ago I actually had a 'Lush Party' (for my birthday), which I will be doing a review of this weekend hopefully. I also love lip balms, and I love sweet smells too, so it's no surprise that I was really happy to find that my sister had bought me some snow fairy lip tint for christmas!

First of all, there is the packaging. The packaging of the lip tint is okay, it's a nice, neat and small tin which is really handy, but it also means it's quite difficult to lose! I do much prefer a tin to a tube because it always really annoys me when you get that bit left at the bottom of the tube which you can't quite get to, which is such a waste! The look of the packaging is alright too - it's nice and simple but looks good and not cheap, which a lot of 'simple' packaging can do. So overall, the packaging is pretty and practical.

Then the colour, I really like the colour of the lip tint as I like the bright pink, however, it doesn't come out nearly as strong when you put it on, which I was quite disappointed with actually because one of the reasons I really wanted this lip tint was because of the really strong, bright, pink colour which I loved! I don't know whether it is just my tin though, or if they have just changed the formula from last year as my sister's gives a much stronger colour. So, I was a bit disappointed with this but it does still give a nice colour, you just have to apply a bit more to get it to show up.

Next, the smell! OMG! I absolutely love the Snow Fairy scent - it's like heaven to me! I don't think I've ever met anyone who doesn't like this scent, but I have met some who just aren't that bothered by it, but I really do love it! To me, it's worth getting this lip tint just so that you can carry it in your pocket and smell it! Ahhh-maz-ing!

Finally the texture and product itself. As a lip balm, this is, and I feel really bad saying this about a Lush product because I really do love the majority of their stuff, but it's just not very good! I actually apply this just for the colour and the smell, but then have to add a lip balm over the top because I find that it just really dries out my lips! After wearing it for a few minutes I feel it begin to like dry and tighten up, and it just isn't nice, and definitely couldn't be used as a lip balm! Also, it does need warming up a bit before you can really use it, because when it is cold, it's dry and like really solid so you can't use it. All it needs is a few seconds holding between the palms of your hands, but its just a bit impractical, especially when it's a winter product, sold when it's normally freezing cold, yet you have to warm it up to be able to use it! It just seems a little bit silly to me, and even more so because Lush are usually so clever and innovative in their products!

So, overall, as a lip tint/balm, unfortunately this is rather disappointing, made more so by the fact that I had such high expectations of it, but even so! I am really disappointed I can't say better things about it but it's just really not great. The packaging is fine, it's nothing special but is nice, the actual product is not actually very good, the colour is gorgeous, but it's not pigmented enough, and the only thing about it which has really lived up to expectations is the smell which is gorgeous! However, at a cost of  £4.95 (or thereabouts) for a tin, I'm not sure the smell alone really justifies that at all, and think, in my opinion, you would be much better off spending that money on the snow fairy shower gel, (which is actually amazing!). I know Lush have bought out a Valentines Lip Tint though, so I  am going to get my ass down to my nearest Lush and check that out and see whether that one seems any better.

I'll be back soon with another review, as always though, thank you for reading, and please subscribe if you like my blog!

Oh, and just wanted to show you with this picture I took at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park which I visited at the weekend. If you ever get the chance to go, I would say you totally should as it is just beautiful! I managed to take loads of the pictures when I was there, if you want to see any of them (although I'm not saying they're going to be like amazing photos or anything) then I will put them up on my other blog here in the next few days if any of you are interested!

Christmas GlossyBox!

Hiya!
Been a little while again - I'm useless - SORRY!

Today, I'm going to blog about my Christmas GlossyBox which I recieved last Friday, and I have to say, I'm well chuffed with it!

The box only cost me £7.95, I explain why in my previous post (linked here), but usually it would cost £12.95, so as far as I am concerned, it was a total bargain!

This box is a bit different from others because it is a Christmas box, so I do think they pulled out all the stops to make this box as exceptional as possible! The main, and most obvious difference is the colour - it's a stand out red, which is very different from the usual dusky pink, but I really like it!

In the box there was:

Blink +Go Eyeshadow and Blush Palette. I knew that you either got this, or their mascara and I was really hoping for this, as I just received a whole bunch of mascara and really won’t be needing any more for a long time! So, I was very happy when I saw I had this, and when I opened the palette and saw the colours, I was like O,M,G! I do think I got lucky, because I know there was another palette with different colours that I could have got which weren’t quite so wearable, but even so, just from taking these quick swatches, you can tell that these are really good quality eyeshadows. I haven’t swatched the Blushers yet, but I’m sure these will be just as good too!

CARGO Cosmetics Classic Lip Gloss. I don’t know what colour I have, but it’s really nice. I tried this Lip Gloss out the other day and was very pleased! Considering it is ‘only’ lip gloss which is a pretty standard make-up item, I was very impressed! Obviously, I’ll do a full review of this and each other product later when I’ve had a proper chance to try them all.

Deborah Lippmann Mini Nail Varnish in Razzle Dazzle. This was what I was looking forward to most as the colour just looks gorgeous! I was very surprised to find that it isn’t actually my favourite thing in the box!  But, I do think it looks amazing and I am very excited to try it out!

Deborah Lippmann The Stripper To Go Lavender Nail Lacquer Remover Finger Mitts. I am extremely intrigued by this, and am really interested in trying it out. I think I might try it out on a really tough nail varnish though – like a glitter one, just to really test it!

NIP + FAB Spot Fix. I haven’t had a chance to try this yet as I’m waiting until I’ve had chance to patch test it because I have quite sensitive skin, and am not risking another allergic reaction on my face as it’s incredibly painful, and unfortunately, I say this from experience! So, I’ll try that soon and obviously do a full review sometime in the near future!

Rituals Foaming Shower Gel in Hammam Delight. This is actually amazing! I was doubtful of what the scent would be like when I read it as I tend to prefer really sweet and floral smells, but after smelling this, I am in love! I don’t think it’s a scent for everyone, and I’m rubbish at describing scents so I’m not even going to try to get technical and say I can smell this, this and this, but I would say it’s a beautiful, ’woody’ smell which to me is just really indulging. Also, what really surprised me was the ‘foaming’ aspect of this gel. I actually squirted a tiny bit of the gel into the cap when I opened it so that I could smell it, then left this on my desk whilst I went to eat tea, and when I came back, the cap had overflowed with foam! And that was with no water! I was truly amazed!

Anyways, as I’ve already said, I’ll do a full review on all the products soon, once I’ve had time to try them all, but I just wanted to share my first few impressions of the box and the products because it could be a little while until I get to properly try them out and do a proper review.
Hope you liked the review, remember to subscribe if you like my blog, and most of all, thank you for reading!

GlossyBox with Clothes Show Discount Code!

Hiya!
So, any of you who saw my Christmas haul may have noticed that I got given a November GlossyBox for Christmas which I was very excited about! I have started trying some of the products from it so will have a post on it sometime in the future. I also had a discount code which I got from the Clothes Show for a half price box, which expires at the end of January, so I decided to use this to buy myself another box! There was a few problems with this, which I will explain below because I'm guessing a few of you will have missed out or had similar problems too.

Firstly, GlossyBox, if you don't already know, is a monthly subscription service, which you can pull out of any time, and is a box of 5 luxury samples. So every month you get sent a beautifully presented box, with 5 samples in it from luxury brands. They're not always sample sized, sometimes you do get full sized products but the idea is that you get to try expensive, luxury products at a lower price. It costs £10 per box plus p&p which is £2.95, so it is still quite expensive but the products inside the box do add up to far more than the cost of the box. I know I personally can't afford to get a box every month, but I will be keeping an eye out for what is in the boxes in case I feel like treating myself every now and again!

Also, it's worth keeping an eye out for discount codes for money off your box which helps knock a bit off the cost. For any of you who have a Clothes Show Discount code, I would say use it to get the December box which is still available! However, you might find that your code doesn't work, which is what I found, but, if it doesn't, just contact GlossyBox and say 'I have this code ..... but it's not working' and they should give you a new unique code. That's exactly what I did, and I have to say I was doubtful of how their customer service would be as I had heard/read a few bad reviews, but they were very good and got back to me the next day with a new discount code.

Because I used the code my box cost £7.95 (£5 + p&p) and should be on its way to me anytime soon which I am very excited about as I have read great reviews of the December box!

If you are interested in getting a GlossyBox, here is the link glossybox.co.uk, and if you like the idea but want something different then definitely check out the competition - there are quite a few. Two that I know off are Carmine which is the same price as a GlossyBox, here is the link carmine.co.uk; and also, Latest in Beauty which is much cheaper and a bit different too, check it out here latestinbeauty.com. There are plenty more companies offering a similar service, if any of you know any more then please comment below with them!
As always, thank you for reading, and remember to subscribe!

Maybelline New York Dream Matte Mousse Foundation Review!

Hello again guys!
Today I thought I'd do a review of Maybelline's Dream Matte Mousse Foundation. I know this product is extremely popular and was a big deal ages and ages ago when it came out, so I'm a bit late, but I still just wanted to do a review of it anyways.
I bought this tub probably about a year ago, maybe more, about a year and a half maybe, and the reason I bought it was basically because my sister did and she thought it was good. Although I didn't really do any proper 'research' on it before I bought it, I'm glad I did, because it is really good!
When I first bought it, I used it for a few months, then for some reason that I don't really remember, I stopped using it and started using a different foundation (which I think was a Maybelline liquid foundation) for every day and only used this one every so often. Then a few months ago, back in the summer, I started using this again and discovered that I actually really like it!

First of all is the range of colours, there are loads! On the boots website there are 13 available and they cover a great range of skin tones. I always struggle with finding a good foundation for my skin tone because I am very pale and usually, the brands which are more 'reasonably' priced just don't have a colour pale enough for me, so finding that they had such a great range of colours, including one for me, was just amazing! So if you do struggle with finding a colour to suit your skin tone I would definitely recommend looking at their range of colours!
Next there is the texture of the foundation. It's a mousse which is very unusual for foundation because usually there is just liquid or powder and I did wonder whether a 'mousse' would work. It's quite a thick formula and it does feel quite weird when you're used to liquid foundation, however, when you apply it to your skin it does just smooth out just like a face cream, but more dry. That is one downfall though of the formula, if you have very dry skin, I don't think I'd reccommend it as it is a very dry formula unlike liquid foundation. I have combination skin so do suffer from some dryness but not a lot, but I do still find it helpful to apply moisturiser like 5-10 mins before putting this foundation on, otherwise it does make my skin feel very dry. But, on the other hand, if you have oily or combination skin and find liquid foundation is too oily for you, then I would recommend giving this a go!

Then, I guess perhaps most importantly is how good the foundation is as a foundation. I would say, for me, this foundation is pretty amazing really. I will be the first to say my skin isn't great and I do need better coverage from my foundation and this foundation is very, very good! It covers spots, undereye circles, pores, provides good overall coverage of the skin, whilst still looking very natural! It's just amazing! The only thing it doesn't really agree with is very dry patches of skin as I said above, but everything else it covers. When I first got this foundation I thought it would be quite cakey but it really isn't, unless you pile it on (never advisable obviously), this is just really nice and smooth and natural looking! Plus, it lasts all day! Also, the main purpose of this foundation is for it to be matte, and again, it does this very, very well! You don't need to use powder and it keeps you completely shine free all day. I have never found a foundation or powder so good at keeping my skin matte, and for so long either!
Below is a picture of the foundation not rubbed in, then when it is - it's virtually invisible!

Lastly is price and packaging. This costs £7.69 from Boots. It does seem like a lot for such a small little tub and tiny amount of foundation, but compared to other foundations it's actually very cheap when you think most high street foundations cost between £5-£15, and higher quality brands often cost well in excess of £20. Also, despite there being such a little amount it really does last a long time because it's such good coverage that you really do only need a tiny bit! I mean mine has lasted for over a year using it on and off, and I think that if I'd used it every single day it still would have lasted me for about 5-6 months or so. I mean the tiny bit left in mine should still last me for like 2 weeks!

So overall, as you can probably tell, I really do like this foundation! I would definitely recommend it, unless you do have very dry skin, and do think it's worth the money which is why I will be repurchasing one very soon for when this one eventually runs out! Also, I think there is a deal on at Boots at the moment (it might be online only though, I'm not sure) - buy one get one half price on Maybelline - so if you are buying another maybelline product anyway then you may as well pick this up too!
Hope you like the review and find it useful, I know I always find it incredibly difficult to buy a new foundation!

OPI Muppets Collection: Meep-Meep-Meep!

Hey!

Happy New Year! Hope you all had a good one!

So, as I might have mentioned a couple of times, it was my 16th birthday on New Years Eve! I will be doing a mini haul post on it, probably later on in January sometime, but for now, I wanted to show you one of my new nail polishes: OPI Muppets Collection in Meep-Meep-Meep!
I have mentioned the OPI Muppets collection before as I was very excited about it (because its amazing) and so was extremely happy when I unwrapped this little beauty of a nail polish! If you haven't already seen the collection, definitely google it!

Obviously the nail polish has the usual great quality of OPI, and it is just such a gorgeous colour! I don't really know quite how to describe it, it's like a cherry colour with glitter, but not like glitter particles... more a shimmer. Anyways... you can see it in the pictures below!

Hope you like it! I'll be back soon with another post!
